MoeR87 — Pixel Storyteller

Creating handcrafted pixel adventures and worlds

Self-taught pixel artist, animator, and Web3 creator building immersive pixel universes across Ethereum, Polygon, Monad, Base, and Solana.

About — MoeR87

I'm Mohammadreza, known artistically as MoeR87 — an independent pixel artist, animator, and Web3 creator working at the intersection of art, games, and blockchain-native worlds.

My creative path didn't start with NFTs. It started with drawing.

As a kid, I spent years sketching the human body by hand, studying anatomy through repetition and observation. Pencil drawing taught me structure, proportion, and movement long before I ever touched digital tools. Around the same time, games became a parallel education — not just playing, but living inside virtual systems. I grew up with online and competitive games like Counter-Strike, World of Warcraft, and DOTA, with a deep preference for MMORPGs: persistent worlds, evolving characters, shared economies, and long-form identity.

In the early 2000s, I entered my first public creative phase through music. Around 2004, under the alias FUAN and as part of Diminished Hip Hop, I released music independently across early digital platforms such as SoundClick, ReverbNation, SoundCloud, Mixcloud, Last.fm, MySpace, and Vimeo. This was a pre-algorithm era of the internet, where creators built presence without permission. Music shaped how I think about rhythm, pacing, atmosphere, and emotional weight — qualities that later became central to my visual and animated work.

I discovered blockchain technology in 2018. What drew me in wasn't speculation, but ownership — the idea that digital objects could persist, move freely, and belong to users rather than platforms. My entry into NFTs didn't come through art, but through games. Around 2020, I began testing blockchain games on the Enjin ecosystem, collecting in-game NFT assets, trading them on marketplaces, and selling them for ENJ tokens. This is where my NFT journey truly began: not as collectibles, but as functional digital assets inside living systems.

By 2022, I shifted from collecting to creating. I chose pixel art as my primary medium because it sits at the exact intersection of everything I had learned — drawing fundamentals, animation, game aesthetics, and technical constraint. Pixel art demands intention. Every pixel must earn its place. I taught myself animation and released my first hand-drawn animated pixel collection, Famous Pixel Dogs, followed by continued releases of both collections and single works across OpenSea, Rarible, TofuNFT, and other platforms.

In 2023, I released Polygon Ape Punks, a 10,000-piece pixel collection on Polygon, which sold out. Around the same time, I participated as a pixel artist in one of the earliest interchangeable-art smart contracts on Polygon with The Herd by Iced Out Coin Flip, transforming existing 2D artworks into animated pixel versions that holders could dynamically switch between. This reinforced my interest in NFTs as modular, evolving objects rather than static images.

Since then, my work has expanded across Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, Monad, Base, and multiple testnets. I've released work on Zora, OpenSea, Rarible, DRiP Haus, and crypto-native platforms, while also deploying full experimental collections on testnets such as MegaETH, contributing pieces to Pharos, and producing multiple drops on Monad. I operate hands-on — designing art, animation, narrative, drops, metadata, websites, wallets, and releases myself.

My current focus is Based Moer, a pixel art project on the Base blockchain, set within a larger narrative universe called the Moerverse. The Moerverse is built as a network of interconnected characters and storylines rather than a single collection. Its first core character, Bald Moe, is a self-referential avatar based on my own identity. The 222-piece Bald Moe collection represents fragmented dream memories, with 21 legendary pieces depicting vivid, clearly remembered dream states — each one a different version of the same consciousness.

Running parallel to this is Based Ape Punks, the animated Gen 2 evolution of Polygon Ape Punks. In the Moerverse, these characters function as space travelers, moving between universes, encountering allies and adversaries, and expanding the narrative beyond a single point of view. Future releases include additional characters, free-to-mint drops for holders, and ongoing pixel-based adventures, all designed to remain sustainable for a solo creator.

I work as a dual-track creator: artist-first in vision, builder-artist in execution. I don't separate music, drawing, games, pixels, or blockchain into different careers — they are all expressions of the same lifelong creative impulse. Web3 simply gave me a medium where that continuity can exist without intermediaries.

Everything here is built independently. Slowly. Intentionally.
